Profile Checklist

A critical part of your Nonprofit.ist membership is your profile. Your listing is the first introduction potential clients will have to you so make sure it’s making the best impression possible.

Here are ways to make sure your profile stands out. Click here to download the checklist as a PDF.

Does your profile have a photo?
Profiles without a photo won’t appear in the public listings so make sure you’ve included a clear photo of yourself.

Have you included your location?
While you may provide services to anyone in the United States, not having your geographic location in your profile may mean someone looking in their area won’t see your listing.

Did you write a short description?
This is your chance to catch a potential client’s eye as they may not see your full profile, just the search results.

Did you provide links?
Adding a link to your website is a great way to add credibility to your practice. 75% of people admit to judging a company’s credibility based on the appearance of their website. Linking to your social media is one more way to help potential clients get to know you and your work.

Are your specialties focused?
While we all wish we could be experts in every area, we, unfortunately, aren’t. When identifying your specialties, make sure what you check are areas in which you truly can offer services.

Is your profile written with your audience in mind??
If you’re not in your field, would you understand the services you offer? Remember that you’re talking to nonprofits as you fill out your profile, making sure that language is clear and easy-to-understand, without a lot of buzzwords or jargon.

Can you tell a story?
Stories can help you connect with your audience and are a chance for you to further highlight what you bring to the table.
