About Me and My Work

What kinds of projects, tasks, or challenges do you typically partner with nonprofits on?
I teach social sector leaders to overcome people + culture challenges and create engaged, inclusive, and high-performing workplaces. My clients get the tools they need to establish healthy dynamics, eliminate tension, find sustainability in the work, and get everyone back to what really matters—serving the mission.

My clients learn to:
• Stabilize turnover and organizational culture
• Hold staff accountable with trauma-informed techniques, finding that key space between “pushover” and “aggressive”
• End the barrage of demands from employees (4 day work week? Hybrid arrangement? More self-care time?) without increasing unplanned turnover or facing a backlash
• Reduce stress and enhance the sustainability of leadership roles
• Dissolve fault lines between organizational leadership and staff, and actually strengthen trust with employees while they do it
• Increase employee engagement—the single largest driver of productivity—without spending more on “perks”
• Resolve complex interpersonal and team conflicts, including generational divides and issues of equity/inclusion
• Hire, train, and onboard the right people in the right way, enhancing retention
• Overcome entrenched workaholism, martyrdom, vicarious trauma, and burnout
• Get everyone back to serving their clients and communities!

And they do this all without:
• Resorting to their position power or “laying down the law”
• “Caving into” employee demands and wants
• Spending extra on staff “perks” and benefits
• Alienating staff and adding to unplanned turnover
• Spending time spinning wheels or coddling employees
• Burning themselves out
Why would someone choose to work with you?
Imagine having a trusted advisor who “just gets it” and can guide you through this process step by step—someone you could call for support, or to celebrate your milestones and successes. Someone who shares your anti-oppressive and trauma-informed values.

At A Better Place To Work, we thrive off our client relationships. We offer coaching, consulting, and training services in comprehensive packages (read: all in one!) so that you have us every step of the way. This comprehensive format means that you’ll get face time when you need us, and it also ensures that we can deliver the results you desire without tacking on additional fees or services.

A typical full-scope consulting engagement includes an:
• Organizational assessment to determine the root causes of your people + culture challenges
• Detailed status report outlining emergent themes in an objective and data-driven format
• Action plan, with step-by-step recommendations for how to take your people + culture to the next level
• Implementation support, so that you’re ready to sustain this work on your own when our time comes to a close
• Targeted training and coaching services along the way to ensure you meet your goals and that you’re ready to maintain your progress

No two projects are the same. After an initial discovery call, we’ll craft a proposal as unique as your organization, meeting you exactly where you are.
