About Me and My Work
What kinds of projects, tasks, or challenges do you typically partner with nonprofits on?
Projects: Data Transfer or creation and setup of new accounting file in any QuickBooks product. I work with the clients to set up the data file to track the items that are necessary for the nonprofit to report their financial information accurately and to track grants and donations.
Controller - Currently, I work with many nonprofits functioning as their controller. Overseeing all accounting functions and serving as a key member of management in decision making and completing the mission of the organization.
Advising - With my extensive nonprofit accounting background along with various other skills I have the ability to understand all areas on the nonprofit and to take the vision and drill down into the details needed to take action and make it possible. I work with the staff and the board to strengthen the nonprofit in areas of finances, fundraising, grants, budgeting, operations and administration.
Teaching - I teach nonprofits how to utilize their QuickBooks to track grants, breakout their functional expenses for the 990 and get the information they need from the program.

Why would someone choose to work with you?
I hold a Master of Accountancy as well as 20+ years of nonprofit accounting experience. Having worked as a nonprofit employee for many of those years I understand the views of the staff and the Board. Typically, I serve as a bridge between the two and can help facilitate the goals and the actions to reach those goals. I don't talk "accounting speak" but plain language when working with my clients. This gives them an ease in understanding all things financial even though it is not their area of expertise. I love nonprofits and the unique challenges they present. Working with them is a different challenge than for-profit businesses and it is one I enjoy.
